Happy New Year!

Our #HeritagePath of the month is Hexpethgate. This old crossing of the Border is mentioned in a state paper of 1543 (Henry VIII Domestic Series XVIII) as one of seventeen crossings of the Cheviots.

The Lighthouse Path is the furthest north #HeritagePath in Scotland. It’s now well-used by nature lovers, as the Hermaness National Nature Reserve protects the world's third largest breeding colony of Great Skua (or Bonxie).

For #FingerpostFriday, here's our sign at Enochdhu in Strathardle, Perthshire. It points along the Old Road to Glenshee which is #HeritagePath of the month, and volunteers Rod and Mel replaced the interpretation sign last year.

For this week's #HillTrackTuesday we make a return to the Scottish Borders, embarking on a ridge route that straddles the Tweed and Yarrow Valleys.

Route 21 is also a #HeritagePath (Gypsy Glen Drove Road) and forms part of the Cross Borders Drove Road.

Much of it is now part of the #AffricKintailWay and passes Glen Affric Youth Hostel - the most remote hostel in Scotland. 🏡
