Dear Government. If you take away kids screen time (which you won’t manage) kids won’t suddenly embrace embroidery or whittling wood, or reading Hesiod or horse-riding.

And even back then everyone used to say "oh you should have been in Soho 30 years ago". It's a bit like Bali in that respect.... and that fella Hesiod.

I read Works & Days, the Theogony, and the Shield of Herakles, by Hesiod (tr Lattimore, 1959). The author of the last work could be pseudo-Hesiod, sub-Hesiod, off-day Hesiod, or another Boeotian also named Hesiod.
W & D makes me want to strip to a loincloth and hoe the beanrows.

For Christmas, Arexu wanted a private song from Carter, despite having to pay a ton since Carter despised the song.

But money is money.

From Hesiod to Xena, from Jayne Eyre to Jumanjii, from Genesis to Pratchett, from Bluebeard to Doctor Who.

Plus, sex. Lots and lots of sex. And a bit of needlepoint.

I think I was delirious by the end.

You realize now that you've said it, in a week this is going to be a new kind of Guy on Twitter who picks up the notion in Hesiod and begins running with the idea of some male utopia in the Days Before Women, right?

You have willed this abomination into being.

I mean, you and Hesiod, but still.

I've long been convinced of the absolute cyclical nature of the human condition, throughout the eons of history.

Take this quote about youth and parenting from ancient Greek poet Hesiod from 700 BCE, and tell me this isn't relevant today, in 2024.

Frivolous youth, indeed!

Some sketches I made of Medusa and Poseidon 🐍 🌊 (the Hesiod and Apollodorus versions)

Before Ovid’s more famous retelling, Medusa’s story was very different, and so was her relationship with Poseidon.
This is also the version I take into account in my interpretations!

Hesiod doesn't like little intruders, but he really likes to stomp them to feel a lil superior, he can be a lil mean to them....well not lil, A LOT I guess, Veronika's fans might never be found at this point.

a lil fun pose drawing of my Character Hesiod the beetle~

Hesiod; Greek
(approx. 700BC)

‘Do not let a woman who decorates her buttocks deceive you by wily coaxing, for she is after your granary.’
Not much is known about Hesiod, other than the fact he lived around the same time as Homer.
Well, that, and he obviously ‘misplaced’ his granary at some point.
