Pixel got new "grandma" and "grandpa" buttons while visiting my parents last week. Yesterday, she said "grandma scratches" at the time she'd usually cuddle up on my mom's lap. Today, she asked "hmm? grandpa" when he would usually come home from work. She clearly misses and thinks about them 🥹

I love the movie the arrival and the idea that language changes the mind and how you think and I also have some existential feelings about teaching a pet to talk and express their feelings and how we could accidentally give them the ability to form nebulous animal thoughts into anxiety

The map is made of hextiles, each representing a hexflower for exploration. e.g. a desert tile represents the desert hexflower with things like shifting dunes, rocky outcroppings, etc.
The red-ringed tiles are "Kirrik braids"; interconnected sky islands woven with giant vines, with another hexflower

So last weekend we did some Grand Battling with C&C-Naps. My 15mm (rebased) figures & hextiles (from Kallistra). 9 players & 9 hours of Waterloo. (Not a Ridley in sight!)
Plans to do more of this in 2025. A very intense yet enjoyable game & very popular with all participants.

OK, it took me a little bit to get over my ADHD paralysis to complete the hextiles for Beyond the Bleak Forest map. We've got eight different terrain types: Light Forest, Forest, Swap, Steep Hills, Hills, Dense Forest, Dead Forest, and Bleak Forest 😁
