"We wanted to climb a wall, and Pholesobi had a steep wall..."

Some delightful understatement in this piece from Climbing Mag on Hidesuke Taneishi and Hiroki Yamamoto's first ascent of Pholesobi (6651m).

I'm not sure what to caption, honestly, beyond it's a fic about trans Hidetoshi featuring #hidesuke!

Minor warnings: pain from binder use. Brief surgery mention

I love #hidesuke, they're so silly, prime territory for both serious exploration and fun times.

Chibi art of Keisuke Hiraga and Hidetoshi Odagiri from Persona 3. Keisuke is wearing the full Shujin uniform while Hidetoshi is missing the jacket. Keisuke is grinning happily, holding out and putting a Jack Frost plush into Hidetoshi's hands. Hidetoshi is looking down at the plush, accepting it, the only giveaway for how he feels the small blush lines under his eyes. A speech bubble above Keisuke reads: "A bit late, but you deserve it, Hide-kun."

Unlike his friend confiding in him now, the upperclassman had nobody that could help him claw his way to understanding. Now he was stuck in a pit of his own creation.

You only act like this –” He gesticulated at Hidetoshi, other hand curled up tightly on his own hip, “– when you’ve been wearing it too long. Hidetoshi, I keep telling you, this could break your ribs and–” Silence. Heavy silence after he cut himself off, lasting too long before he let out a stuttering huff, pulling off his glasses to rub his nose bridge. He slowly put them back on, thinking, even as Hidetoshi curled in his shoulders under the scrutiny. “I know I tell you this every time, and you say the same things every time, but… I just worry about you. When I go off to college, will you be ok? I can’t always be here for you, even if I want to! Graduation isn’t that far away.” Keisuke grabbed Hidetoshi’s shoulders, grip just firm enough he couldn’t easily get out. Grey eyes met brown, so much flashing across them, but having such a hard time communicating any of it.

You’re my guardian angel, keeping me safe.” A scoff, a roll of the eyes. Hidetoshi never liked leaving things to chance or fate, he’d made that clear before. “If I was, you wouldn’t be doing any of those dumb things in the first place, right?” “Not if fate said they needed to happen.” A deep sigh, a sign of annoyance towards anyone else, but it just made Keisuke curl in closer, ankles locking to keep them together. “If I just think of it like that, I can make it until graduation. I can always… run away, he can’t know where I am if I don’t.” Hidetoshi’s grip on his hands tightened for only a moment before letting go, arms moving to hug him tightly. “You can always come here. Unless he showed up with a warrant, I wouldn’t let him step a toe in the door. And if you needed to run, you know I’d have to come with you. Someone has to be there to support you.” … And then Keisuke was crying.

Sometimes?” There it was. Keisuke somehow reading his thoughts, Hidetoshi never able to hide from him, even when those brown eyes stared forward, hand they guided not halting its movements even for a moment as they spoke. “... Yeah. Sometimes.” All the time. He folded his arms and looked away, even knowing Keisuke couldn't see him. He just felt… safer, like this. “Do you?”

It’s my last year, you know. I might never get a chance to do something fun like this with you again.” A furrow that hair nor glasses could hide gave away that the older teen wasn’t being entirely playful. He was hiding something important in those words, though the stoic leader couldn’t fully decipher it. Even after so many years, both had moments like this, not able to tell the complete truth to each other. He knew of it well, too many moments when he could only be silent, unable to articulate how Keisuke was making him feel. Hidetoshi found himself folding a bit. Keisuke was being dramatic, of course they’d have plenty of time in the future to do anything they wanted together. But if it was so important, if it would ease him, maybe… ----- Keisuke convinces Hidetoshi to join him for the crossdressing competition.
