A post-canon fic where Hidetoshi and Kenji have a conversation and an argument, based on some dialogue I thought of before I'd fallen asleep

Another session of me coloring one of the pieces I got from shadowfreak98!

This is a testament that I shouldn't color late at night because I 1.) Slap a million layers down, and 2.) I can never decide what looks best.

Chibi artwork of Hidetoshi Odagiri and Makoto Yuki from Persona 3. They're drawn in profile. Makoto is on one leg, the other lifted in the air. His hands are loosely resting on Hidetoshi's chin, keeping him in place for a kiss. Hidetoshi has a surprised expression. Both are wearing the standard school uniform. The entire piece is dyed in blues, oranges, and pinks. Most of Hidetoshi and Makoto are shaded. A gradient layer acts as a pink highlight.

Makoto had seemingly vanished, and he couldn’t shake the need to figure things out. He cursed Keisuke’s sentimentality rubbing off on him when he called that familiar contact – it hadn’t worked the first day, it wouldn’t work now… But this time, it didn’t ring. We’re sorry, the number you dialed is currently unavailable. Please leave a message after the tone. It made him pause, not planning to leave a message at first. But… If there was the slimmest chance that anyone might have the phone and contact him back… it was worth a try.

It wasn’t too expensive, was it?” The box was quickly forgotten on the table next to them, Makoto looping the length of the fabric between his fingers, looking closely at the pattern the lights above them revealed. “Nonsense, money’s no object. Clothes make the man; going into our third year you’ll be getting ready for college, work, the wider world. You can have the nicest suit in the room, but if you don’t know how to wear a tie, they won’t take you seriously. This is nothing compared to what you’ve done to help me… It’s a ‘thank you’, for everything.” He bowed his head, not able to meet those searching eyes after spouting out such heartfelt truths. He’d been right. They complimented each other excellently.

A version of the image with only the highlight layer turned on. The piece is nearly haloed in soft pink. A version of the image featuring warm pink colors instead of blue. The shading remains the same. A version of the image with the shading layer turned off. A version without the highlight layer and shading layer set to a different mode. The blue coloring from the original returns. The piece is darker and more dramatic, though still warm in tone.
