crazy that an influx of dense infill housing can lower prices and make homeownership more attainable
"In 2020, [Portland, OR] approved building [middle housing] on lots zoned for single family homes... A new report from the City says, it's working. 1,400 new units built in just a few years and each one is $300,000 less expensive than a typical single family home." @nbcnews.com

Best part of homeownership: it's your house.
Worst part of homeownership: it's your house.
one thing that i guess is kind of implied about home ownership but should really be spelled out directly in specific detail is that sometimes you may find a ceiling light full of liquid and it becomes your job to solve That Mystery

“Build to rent homes” are not keeping people out of homeownership. The high price of homeownership is keeping people out of homeownership. A good national policy for homeownership would involve increasing the number of cheaper homeownership options like condos. Not this nonsense.

2026 is about affordable homeownership. No more "policy" this year. Feed the local fauna, befriend them, and then use them to overpower homeowners so you can occupy their dwellings.

We don't talk enough about the additional costs of homeownership.
Overall, non-mortgage costs to homeowners average nearly $24,000 annually on top of their mortgage principal and interest, according to a new survey.

The biggest culprit: utility bills, which annually come to an average of $7,679.
That affordable home may come with an expensive surprise
Utility bills can reshape your home-buying budget. Here’s how to prepare.

This is why so many in Gen Z don’t believe homeownership is part of their American Dream. They saw their parents lose homes in record numbers during the Great Recession.

writing a book on this at the moment, but in short: I’m fine with homeownership. the problem is home price inflation, which is a product of government policy and actually reduces homeownership over the long term
