I’m thrilled with how this one came out in terms of posing and facial expression.

A photograph of a page inside a book "Hopeless Necromantic" by Shiloh Briar, featuring an in-universe promotional flyer printed on a light grey, stylized parchment type background with irregular, 'torn' edges. The text on the flyer is written in a clean, clear font, organised from top to bottom: Header: "DEATH GOT YOU DOWN? LET US RAISE YOU BACK UP!" in all-caps, bold letters. Sub-header: "Citizens of Nyllmas," Main Body Text: "Tired of your loved ones always keeling over? Have some unfinished business with a friend, relative, or stranger you found on the ground? Come on down to the home of Sikras 'Catseye' Nikabod, fabled necromancer of Nyllmas. He’ll have your corpse of choice back on his or her feet before you can say 'rigor mortis'." Promotional Offer: "FREE INCENSE WITH EVERY RESURRECTION (You’re going to need it.)" written in smaller all-caps, with the caveat in parentheses. Fine Print: A disclaimer paragraph of small, densely packed text reading: "Risks associated with the resurrection of a dead loved one include the following: nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, intense regret, mental and emotional turmoil, damage to your person or personal belongings should you drop to your knees, wail, rend your garments, et cetera, so on and so forth. A signature is required pre-resurrection relinquishing Catseye from any liability regarding your satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the services rendered." It finishes with: "Your local, fabled necromancer," followed by a cursive, handwritten-style signature that reads, "Sikras 'Catseye' Nikabod". At the bottom right corner of the flyer, there is a circular, hand-drawn wax seal or stamp illustration containing a stylised monogram of the interlocking letters "S" and "N".

Bookcover image for Hopeless Necromantic by Shiloh Briar, image shows grey-haired and fatigued-looking necromancer Sikras, and Pink-haired, horned, half-demon Helspira. Pale green background with scattered bones and potion bottles framing the characters. Review: 5⭐️ Wonderful fantasy full of love, loss, and growth. The brotherly(er, brother-in-lawly) partnership between Sikras and Ben was so touching, humorous, and profound. Throwing Helspira into the mix sparked true found-family camaraderie. The villains were seriously villainous. The world building was great, for the terrible realm of Chthonia where Helspira escaped from, the afterlife limbo souls pass through, and where Sikras calls home and reluctantly is called again to defend from the rival necromancer. This is a low-spice story, making it rather sweet and cozy despite the battling. Thank-you, Orbit Books and Shiloh Briar, for this complimentary copy. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Thank you, Orbit, for the #gifted ARC!

Hopeless Necromantic by Shiloh Briar has amazing characters that I adored. It's also a much deeper book than I thought, in a good way.

Hopeless Necromantic by Shiloh Briar is fun, emotional, and practically perfect. One of those books you slow down your reading because you want more time to enjoy the characters and their world. #HopelessNecromantic #OrbitBooks www.netgalley.com/book/757295/...
