There are some beautiful hikes on the U.S. side which are no longer accessible and the citizen scientists who collect breeding bird data can no longer complete their surveys on the US side. The Canadian provincial park ranger used to lodge with the US national park rangers before US funding cuts.

The Forest Fires in BC are getting a little worse. Green Lake is on Evacuation Order, and Near Hope, Silverhope Creek at Hozomeen Mountain in the USA. Very smoky in Kelowna at the valley bottom.

Drove to #skagitprovincialpark yesterday before the road closes for winter. #hozomeen was shy, hiding behind the clouds, but #mountprophet was glorious. #aspens and new #snow on the mountains provided colour and contrast! #internationalpoint #rosslake

I thought things looked smoky this morning -- looks like my region's got this for the next couple of days. Environment Canada announced an air quality warning further east (Fraser Valley).
Guess I should wear a mask when I'm en route for groceries, not just in the store.
