Ive been craving #italianice for so long. I had it 5/6 years ago. Had it before #HurricaneSandy hit #NY. '97 prior to that I missed it 😭. I dont have an ice cream maker but I found another way. Just whip up whatever flavor, put it into zip bags, freeze, then food processor it until smooth. Yummmm

An exploration not so much of Stanley Kubrick's THE SHINING as of man's search for meaning.
If I feel compelled to write up a review of a movie within a day of seeing it, this is a mark of high quality. The last time this happened was with Lars Von Trier's MELANCHOLIA, though I never did get past the notes stage with that review. Come to think of it, MELANCHOLIA may have been the last film I saw in the theater -- I'm extremely selective like that -- so my just having seen a movie these days is some index of cinematic excellence.
In his documentary ROOM 237, Director Rodney Ascher leads the audience through a labyrinth of hyper-detailed and cleverly-edited meta-analysis of what various obsessives have seen in Stanley Kubrick's THE SHINING over the years. He ultimately arrives at widely-applicable truths about something no less profound than man's search for meaning. The human mind tends to look for patterns and metaphor in everything. If such can't be found might be imposed. I said to myself, “Self, you’re gonna hear these are bc of damage caused by #SuperstormSandy #HurricaneSandy.” And indeed ‘twas true. A 2012 storm. Yes, it was THAT bad. Sandy nearly murdered the subway & therefore the city. NYC remains critically vulnerable to #climatechange in this specific way.
