No idea, I'm afraid! I see "hweat!" and think Beowulf. Wouldn't the Normans have had something like "quel/lle"?

Overjoyed to say I have a piece in the next HWEAT! zine. And I am DELIGHTED. It focuses on folklore and fold horror but the whole zine is a work of art. Just a stunning thing, art as a magazine.

The elitist linguists in Woke, Inc. pronounce them "Hweat Thins" with emphasis on the "H".

(There was actually a "Wheat Thins" ad about 15 years ago featuring Stewie and Brian Griffin from "Family Guy" where Brian was annoyed by Stewie emphasizing the "H")

I can never forget when Kyle Kallgren reviewed Romeo + Juliet, and did an entire digression demonstrating the difference between Old, Middle, and Modern English. Via dramatized reading.

"OLD English sounds like this: HWEAT!..."
