I try to illustrate how hyperspace perception/navigation work, for Vela specifically in this case, with water and ice. The ship has sunk "too deep" (rather much in hyper direction) and Vela assumes control under great physical duress and surprise. The first 1/3rd of the scene. 🔽

Vela felt the techlines on her arm squirming. A sickening reminder of the void-presence in her. She felt a cold envelop her body, like the endless subpace abyss below. Dark, cool. And elaborate ? How was that fitting. When she looked at the main screen she could swear that there was a pattern to the raw fluctuations perceived by the ship's struggling aspect-reactor. Spiderweb-like lines uncoiled from their position, way too far spread to ever entangle the other ship's feeble indentation made down to this depth. They were drowning under ice, watching shadowy runners on the surface. Fleeting shadows, incapable to grasp or hear. They needed a breakththrough, a massive block to break this layer. A planet. Euphonia prime was near. The fleet had cut into the systems heliopause layer and planetary masses manifested themselves in the noise, beyond the fleet signals the captain desperately grasped for. Time had slowed for Vela, she could perceive clearly and coldly what was happening in slow motion. An exquisite contrast to the rising heat of the falling ship.

For me, I like how effective Hyperspace Portals can be for shiny-hunting, and I do enjoy Dynamax Adventures as a shiny-hunting method for Legendary Pokemon, although it isn't really that effective time-wise. The Poke Radar in BDSP is either very effective or not at all.
