Before the iPhone era, this HP iPAQ rx3100 (2004) was my favorite mobile device. Windows Pocket PC, touchscreen with stylus. Built-in Wi-Fi felt so wildly futuristic. I played a lot of games on this thing when I was bored

My dad bought the HP iPAQ rx3100 on January 6, 2005 for $349.99 at Staples. IIRC he got bored of it quickly and gave it to me 😂

Exciting news on the Moon Child PocketPC front. @wafflenet.com, who is in our Discord, got the game installed onto their iPAQ, retrieved the files and found an old PC version of the Syntrax software to get us this, the title track of Moon Child PPC, which hasn't been heard in possibly over a decade:

Today in Personal Training & Public Scholarship: I explain to my chipper trainer (“today I’m going to destroy your legs!”) Napster, 1980s car phones, the Compaq iPaq I wrote my senior thesis on, & the super cool Nokia flip keyboard phone I had as a grad student in the UK.
I am ancient but unbroken.

Also found while thrifting, this old HP “iPAQ” Pocket PC, which the thrift store had labeled as an iPad (lol). It was $2, a neat oddity.

This is the Cybiko! It was had an INCREDIBLY bad processor, even compared to contemporaries. It was interesting however, especially that it tried to undercut everyone on price at ~140 bucks if memory serves.
For comparison, the Pocket PC was $350-600 and the Palm Pilot ranged from $300-400

Fiddling with ways to read ebooks on my old Pocket PC/Windows Mobile handhelds. Microsoft Reader was actually bundled in the ROM of this iPAQ, so I wanted to try that.
I was under the impression that I would have to jump through hoops or find some long-forgotten tools in order to make it work, but

Here's a fun little story - recently I became an owner of two PDA's. I always wanted to get one of these back in the 00's, they looked so cool! So one day I spontaneously decided to check eBay and found a pretty cheap iPaq hx2410 in working condition. But why did I ended up getting two of these?
