As if the books aren’t enough ibraries offer amazing services to the community too. Next week my small local library has a photographer offering free professional headshots for anyone who needs them.

"[L]ibraries pay much more for books and digital materials than regular buyers do, and right now, there’s no way around this."

You know this. We know this. But we're working to change it. You're with us, right?

LMAO, no. If you want to grouse about egregious wastes of real estate, start with the empty offices post-remote-revolution & ground level parking lots. Physical ibraries are fantastic resources for everyone in a community, but especially for raising the standard of living for the under-privileged.

“The state budget increased funding for public libraries across SC for the first time in yrs, but that ⬆️ came with strings. [L]ibraries wld now be required to ‘certify to the State library that their county libraries do not offer any 📚 or materials that appeal to the prurient interest of children’”

DIFFERENT WITH HIM has an ISBN so can be requested for library spaces!! if anyone's able, this triggers institutional purchases and gets #trans #writing into shared spaces. most l#ibraries have a “suggest a purchase” form on their website <3

lol that social media sw writers are thinking about books/ibraries. anyway, people write multi-blort "threads" that then have to be recombined. it's a stupid limit that they could have expanded but didn't. but i am now thinking, maybe this encourages me to be be brief? so there's that.

This! Even if you don’t think you’d make it into your local library often, many districts give you access to massive digital libraries like Libby, Hoopla, and Kanopy. Books, music, movies, even magazines and newspapers. Some ibraries offer culture passes to museums and some even have seed libraries!
“Having fun isn’t hard, when you’ve got a library card!”

Today is a great day to get a library card. Happy library card sign-up month ✨🥳

that is why literacy is resistance - MAGA are largely illiterate and without critical analysis skills & it sucks to be them, it's hard.

Trump wants our educational system to be even worse

Read to your kids, take them to, & support, ibraries & museums & demand strong literacy from our schools

Whenever I read "MDPI" I automajickly think it is short for "Max Dank Pigital Ibraries" as we have an MPDL (Max Planck Digital Libraries) and I can't read sans-serif fonts.

This is a different argument than you're making but my concern there is less that this isn't an impressive feat & more that given how the people in charge of developing this talk it's an example of why they think librarians like me are redundant now & we might as well start closing all the ibraries.
