Hume's Warbler, Spurn, Nov 24, confirmed as nominate humei.
'Eastern Stonechat', Icklesham, Nov 24, was Siberian maurus.
and both Black-faced Buntings - Donna Nook and North Ron, were both just that.

Here's All Saints and St Nicolas Church in Icklesham, grade 1 listed, dating back to the Normans & most likely Saxons, it was mentioned in King Offa's Charter of 772

Recovery: Blackcap, originally ringed @LaneMarsh, Solihull on 21/09/2021 as a juvenile was re-captured on 12/02/2025, 232km away at Icklesham, East Sussex. Is this a UK wintering Blackcap or an early arrival coming back in?

Several of these flies were seen today resting on the flowers of Wood Anemone in ancient woodland near Icklesham.
I think they are males of the European March fly -Bibio lanigerus

A Goldfinch we ringed on the 3/11/25 at Lower Drayton farm in Penkridge, Staffordshire was recaptured on the 11/11/25 at Icklesham, East Sussex, the bird had travelled 172 miles in 8 days and had lost 0.7g, think we'd have lost a bit more weight if we'd have walked it in 8 days! #birdringing

2) Ringing site coverage/ effort levels may differ.

This 5mm moth caught in an Icklesham trap this week is the Obscure Mompha (Mompha jurassicella). Its larvae feed on the wetland plant Great Willowherb and is the first in Sussex since 2018.

At this time of year juvenile Mallards, Anas platyrhynchos, flock together. The last Mallard in this flock has a limp ☹️ but when he got into the pond yesterday he could swim better than he could walk. Upper Pannell Valley between Icklesham & Pett Level. East Sussex. #birds 🪶

Itchingfield (they have a tiny priest house).
Icklesham (they have a not so tiny windmill / recording studio).
Ifield (a brilliant Indian restaurant)
Iping (good walks).
Isfield...Lavender Line

I know what you mean- gave it all up when moved back from Icklesham 2013, knew it would be lot of effort for little return in comparison.
(When I got back from morning walk today I actually found a lonely Orange Swift in the porch- I bowed down and worshipped!)
