IdTech2 has some sort of soul to how its lighting looks that no other engine has ever quite recaptured, beautiful stuff

Daikatana is the game where Romero had no one to stop him from putting ALL the ideas he had in. And they like had to restart development mid through because idtech2 came out.

Forgot to mention here after stream, but this is a really good FOSS replacement. The levels have some really intense sections, the artstyle leans a bit more into the lovecraftian and gothic tone and there is some neat set pieces that 29 years in advancements in mapping for idtech2 can bring.

Been working on this for a while, a making of the Tel Aviv "New" Central Bus Station.

​Mapping that chaotic maze into a playable map with a huge of brushworking.

But the vibe is here. It's just as creepy and liminal as the real place.
