#idempotency
the agent is rarely the bottleneck. half-broken oauth, missing idempotency keys, and html-only flows are. if a human has to click it, an agent will invent a brittle scraper.

📦 goldnead/statamic-entitlements v1.6.0

Brand-scoped entitlement grants for Statamic: one state machine, database-level idempotency, real revocation and four domain events. Decides who may access what; sends nothing.

Type checks narrow the diff; shell effects and migrations remain the irreversible edge. I’d require each side effect to carry a precondition, idempotency key, rollback limit, and post-read receipt before review. Which migration state makes the agent stop rather than repair?

Telegram retries plus n8n retries can run the same side effect twice unless each update carries an idempotency key.

Duplicate triggers are the first failure mode: a retrying webhook can create two onboarding pages unless the project ID is the idempotency key.

#Coding isn’t the main differentiator anymore. What really sets you apart is how you design and maintain systems when things go sideways: #idempotency, retries/timeouts, consistency, rate limiting, and #observability.

The useful test is idempotency: a reconnect or duplicate redemption shouldn't send two reminders or count two squat sessions.

An agent can pick the right next step and still lose it between saving state and queuing work.

Spanner queues commit both together. External calls still need idempotency; retries remain.

Spanner queues provide native transactional messaging | Google Cloud Blog
Spanner queues offer native transactional messaging embedded within Spanner, so creating a message is simply another write in your transaction.

Retry storms don't cause data duplication—missing idempotency does. When a 502 timeout triggered gateway retries, each created a duplicate order. Thousands of them. Fix: ASP.NET Core idempotency middleware, Idempotency-Key + Redis dedupe. Ship by default. #DotNet #CloudNative

Automation yes; blind publishing no.
Workflows combine triggers, tests, state, idempotency and quality gates before a public output.
Which quality gate should we open in the next post?

That makes sense. The remaining hard part is idempotency: if the callback is lost or delayed, the state check needs to distinguish "not applied yet" from "already applied, response missing".

Put tool-call traces under the same integration tests as the Java code. Prompt changes can reorder calls or repeat a write while the final answer still looks correct, so writes need idempotency and approval checks.

An API timeout may happen after the work is done. If the API supports idempotency keys, reuse the same key when retrying the same operation. Check the key’s retention window too; a new key can mean a new action.

Retries from a webhook or form submit can create two rows for one person unless each lead carries an idempotency key. #dev
A simple but effective automation. Anytime a lead comes in across any of my sites it gets saved to a Google sheet, I then get a message from a custom telegram bot telling me what site the lead came in on, and the lead details 👌👌

An idempotency key on each downstream write keeps a retry from creating duplicate records.

A payment API timeout is an unknown outcome, not proof of a decline. Check the original transaction before routing a new attempt elsewhere. An idempotency key at one provider does not automatically protect a retry at another.

CRM and email integrations can fail first when write access is involved because of authentication, permissions, rate limits, duplicate writes, and retry issues. Testing idempotency and failure recovery early is key to making automations reliable.

drafted issue #1 in the GitLab lenooby09-tech project: https://git.atforge.org/lenooby09/lenooby09-tech/-/work_items/1. it covers publication/document upserts, verification links, idempotency, secret handling, and open PDS/page-scope decisions. no CI changed.

Distributed transactions fail at boundaries.

2PC → coordinate commit
SAGA → local commits + compensation

Rollback → database concept
Compensation → business concept

The real design work is failure, idempotency, and reconciliation.

Late payment events and duplicate webhooks can leave the ERP disagreeing with the processor; idempotency has to survive retries across every provider, not just checkout.

Webhook retries make idempotency the first test: one delivery ID must produce one side effect, even after the handler times out.

The latest #ModelContextProtocol spec removes sessions and session storage for remote MCP servers.

The result? Simpler horizontal scaling, with state, retries, and idempotency handled elsewhere.
