This is sort of the skeleton key to understanding a lot of shit: there 100% is a non-trivial amount of inefficiency and waste in the federal bureaucracy, and most of it is a *direct result* of ‘reforms’ that are meant to assuage the people who complain about “waste and inefficiency in govt”
for decades the federal govt has bent over backwards to limit spending even on totally sensible things like office coffee, all so they can say your tax dollars aren't going to pay for coffee. and it was all for nothing bc elon is tweeting out conspiracy theories about non-existent fraud.

The whole AI-to-make-graduation- efficient is bizarre. The most efficient way to award diplomas is by mail; there’s no logical need for ceremonies. The whole reason they exist is for the human touch & so people can celebrate each other. AI for “efficiency” here is nonsensical (& doesn’t even work🫠)

you could make a lot of this mania vanish by making college free. the worst parents think they're working a new market inefficiency by making their kid out-hustle the "lazy" kids. but even chill parents are holding a psychological lotto ticket that their kid puts up numbers that end in scholarships
Idea: Maybe we shouldn't be treating 7th grade girls volleyball like the Thunderdome? It's not just bad for the parents (who hate each other due to playing time) and culture (watch ESPN for ten seconds), it burns out the kids and makes them worse adults AND athletes. Sports are supposed to be fun!
