As a child under russian occupation in Tallinn I was taught at school that before St Petersburg was founded, there were was nothing but uninhabited marshland. It’s a blatant lie there were Finnish, Swedish and Ingrian towns. Guess what. Russians killed and enslaved most of them, and lied about it

An little know thing about the winter war. Was that Finland knew about the genocide and forced Russification of the Ingrian fins. And every one feared that this was what the ussr planed for Finland. Today around 70 people speaks ingrian.

Many don't speak Swedish but either German, Russian or French. Ingrian Finns who might speak Finn, Est, Eng/Rus. Finnish and English +1 most common combination.

Finland were also Ingrian Finns and one of them became good friend of my great aunt. When Finland had to deport Ingrians back to Soviet Union, my great aunt and that Ingrian decided that they would try to write letters for eachother. 4/
