Today’s #InterestingWord is not one that gets mixed up really, it’s just a word that’s little used and rather lovely:

saturnine: a gloomy, slow temperament

From Saturn (associated with slowness and gloom by astrologers) and connected to lead by alchemists. Hence saturnism = lead poisoning.
Because I’ve had to check it several times today for my day job 😆 today’s #InterestingWord is a mnemonic to help you with a tricky spelling:

Doesn’t It Always Run Rather Horribly Over Each Ankle

You’re welcome!

(Sorry, Americans, this doesn’t quite work for you: you’ll just have to remember no O)
Two similar #InterestingWords, one of which is fairly well known and one that isn’t:

detriment: being harmed by something, ‘he worked long hours, to the detriment of other relationships’

determent: talk/writing that makes you afraid/disinclined to try something, ‘fines are a determent to speeding’

Since it’s #WorldCiderDay, an #InterestingWord for today is NOT a misspelling of ‘political’:

pottical: literally ‘having to do with pots’, but alludes to alcohol, specifically being drunk and then inspired or motivated to do something (perhaps not wisely…)
