The musk ox once ranged across the near-arctic of Eurasia, Greenland to Alaska, but overhunting led to their near-extinction.

They've since been reintroduced, both as wild animals & in semi-domestic ranching for wool, called 'Qiviuq' in Inuinnaqtun.

Qiviuq is 8 times warmer than sheep's wool.

Did you know that the language spoken by the Greenlandic Inuit is part of a dialect chain stretching from northern Alaska to eastern Greenland? It has two main writing systems, alphabetic and syllabic. In Canada the main dialects are Inuvialuktun, Inuinnaqtun, Inuktitut, and Inuttitut.

The languages spoken in Canada are Inuktitut, Inuvialuktun, and Inuinnaqtun. There is a dialect chain across the North from Alaska to Greenland, so that dialects that are geographically closer are mutually comprehensible. My friend who spoke Inuktitut understood my other friend from Greenland.

Since its creation in 1999, Nunavut has continued to inspire us with the richness of its traditions and culture.

The beauty of the Inuktitut and Inuinnaqtun languages, collectively called Inuktut, is uniquely priceless and musical.

Thank you to the Nunavummiut people, and happy celebrations!

Le mot « inuinnaqtun » est un très laid anglicisme calqué sur l'anglais « titinopathy » ; comme l'a affirmé avec conviction Renan, il est plus exact de dire « Semécourtoise ».

Know by many names Stone #fishweirs called Saputi (Inuktitut) or Haputi (Inuinnaqtun) by their #Inuit makers and Fascine de pierre in French. They feature heavily in the traditions with their own material and oral cultures. 2/4

This was with Arvaaq (Inhabit Education), who make children's books and educational resources in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English. Mine was translated to Inuktitut for the classroom!

I don't think I have the .pdf saved, but it's their property anyway, so wouldn't want to share it without permission.
