RE: https://mastodon.online/@iode/117348945973820689

I've just started using iodéOS and what they're saying is true - they block all that crap. And Google aren't even in the phone to begin with so it's a win-win!

The next review in our #FreeYourAndroid series on #Android distributions is about #iodéOS from iode . iodéOS is based on #LineageOS and comes with a built-in network blocker, call spam blocker, and parental controls. How does it fit your daily life?

Go check it out! 🚀 fsfe.org/activities/a...

And another #google #spyware device bites the dust: I've flashed a Pixel 8a with IodéOS 🥳

Thank you, @iode your OS is really great. My son already uses it - the advanced DNS blocker is amazing! A daily time limit control would be the icing on the cake 😊

This is such a positive boost to mental […]

Sorry, but being forced to buy a Google phone just to de-google a phone sounds like a joke to me!
Please @grapheneos.org, stop kidding us and do your part:
Diverse your devices list, and then you’ll finally seem credible!
Compared to LineageOS, /e/OS or iodéOS you're just surfing the devil's wave...
We've developed a secure paste feature replacing traditional clipboard APIs. Users will be able to take away clipboard access from apps to use this instead. It integrates into the standard selection toolbar, input methods, accessibility services and keyboard shortcuts. We plan to get it merged soon.

Young Person asked mW to change their Fairphone IS from stock Android to IodeOS and I've got half way though and have run out of spoons. Worried I've bricked it.

[privilege and grapheneos]

the reason why I promote iodeOS over GrapheneOS is because securitybros in the last one expects the user to be the typical who gets the new hot thing ala "just buy a new one" whenever your phone is deprecated.

however, a lot of people are just happy to get a working […]

And it's been a few years, so I relearned how to flash Android roms and tried upgrading to the latest IodeOS, and lost access to my simcard slot. Flashing back to stock regains access, and the simcard slot goes away again when I tried the latest LineageOS too. And since this Xperia 5 IV is […]

So I’ve been considering how feasible a de-googled phone would be, and I had unlocked and flashed IodeOS 5.5 to an old Xperia 5 IV a while back. With the news of Signal finally supporting linked phones, I can get serious about experimenting with various custom roms and hacks on this phone and […]

Yeah, me too. I really like it. And I've swapped to Jottapad for cloud services and I use Collabra if I need to edit docs on my phone. Best thing has been a Fairphone running IodeOS, which has a way to ring-fence any apps that insist on using google services.

Its not hard to find documentation of /e/OS giving user data out to openAI, iodeOS explicitly stating that security is for criminals, and you can check the lineageOS repo for yourself to see how dated it is.

Just because you dont like it, doesnt mean its not true.
July 23, 2026 at 8:48 AM
It was in an interview with the CEO (in french). He said (in french) that iodéOS doesnt focus on security as that only benefits criminals like paedophiles.
July 22, 2026 at 6:37 AM
I did not know that one

That's some crazy shit to say

But many devs are far-right, psycho-right even

And we know about the far-right: every accusation is a confession

Source?

Also, IodéOS thinks security is only for pædophiles and other criminals.
July 22, 2026 at 1:16 AM
How shitty iodeOS is.
(Translated from french):
"We don't have a 'hardened security' approach, we aren't developing a phone for paedophiles so they can evade justice... really hardened security stuff... That's not our goal."

Treating security like its for criminals and paedophiles.
