#jazz-adjacent
I can tell you the three albums that I listen to most, all are at least Miles adjacent or following a similar sound. Admittedly there are much more learned bluesky jazz people than me, almost certainly with better recommendations!

I got in on the act, too, though I'm not a jazz musician. (Jazz fan, absolutely...)
I strummed and sang harmonies on a few Linda Ronstadt numbers with Brenda Ford and the Geoff Eales trio, and I also did a handful of my own. Including "Paul", perhaps my most jazz-adjacent. Thx to Roland for footage.

The kids seem to be liking jazz and jazz-adjacent music. Between Laufey and Olivia Dean - there are probably others - the kids are alright.

Bar/lobby area. Great three piece jazz group (piano, bass, drums) was playing the whole time we were gawking and snapping pics.

Univers Zéro - Live At The Triton, 2009 (Sub Rosa, 2025)

CD/DVD set documenting a performance by these chamber-prog pioneers at the famed French jazz-and-adjacent venue. Just playing the CD today, because, after all, it is #CDFriday.

We've got a day of jazz and jazz-adjacent music as a charity fundraiser at Canton Uniting on Saturday. Hope #Cardiff folk can make it.

I'll be in the first set of the evening programme, singing a couple of my own tunes and strumming/harmonising with Brenda Ford. www.ticketsource.com/michael-munn...

First, bop and book musicals in their own ways signalled that formerly adjacent and seemingly harmonious ends were starting to pull away from each other, from either reasserting a folk-ish foundation of jazz or emphasizing the 'dramatic' in dramatized music.

It took Jazz Chisholm three tries to make a successful throw to an adjacent base

As someone who got into what was being labeled as "new age" in the 80s, when it was mostly jazz or folk adjacent, seeing that particular aspect of the genre take over to the point where people forgot it had ever been something else was really weird!
Another element of 1990s nostalgia that often gets ignored is how the USA was gaga for Celtic and New Age music. Remember those CD kiosks in the big box stores?

I love nu-metal/deathcore-adjacent music, but good lord if depressing jazz/trip-hop ain't my soul.

He was a multilingual man from the south, who fled to Europe to escape racism. He played jazz, flew fighter planes in WW1 and WW2. He was also a nightclub manager (casino adjacent lol)... he was even a girl dad lol.

My husband worked adjacent to a specialty grocer that has every apple (including silly inch-wide ones my kids love to bring to school), and for a year he was trying every variety available. Settled on Jazz and still eats one Jazz apple per day.

New Jack Swing was also a huge thing in classic Sonic, so I suppose that might be another slightly jazz-adjacent connection?!

Fleeting Future was a miraculous album

While that album was a stripped down, taught, gamelan-adjacent future classic of electro-acoustic jazz, Akusmi's follow-up, “Terra Incognito,” ranges farther and wider, with even more eclectic influences

You'll either love or hate this, I doubt there will be fence-sitters

They call themselves "a new music ensemble disguised as a trombone quartet" and IMHO they make rather thrilling jazz-adjacent experimental electro-acoustic works
