Probably a good time to remember that Harvey Norman only paid back $6 million of the $22 million it took in Covid JobKeeper subsidies.

Harvey Norman repays $6 million in JobKeeper profits following months of pressure
The money paid back represents less than a third of the estimated $22 million in JobKeeper wage subsidies the retail group received.

Remembering that universities didn't get JobKeeper.🤔

Jobkeeper :

More than 100 religious organisations qualified for the emergency wage subsidy despite seeing little financial impact from last year's COVID-19 economic shock.

Figures from ATO show about 3,500 religious entities received a total of $627 million in JobKeeper payments.
Calls for religious organisations to repay JobKeeper millions
Dozens of Australia's biggest churches and other religious institutions pocketed millions of dollars in JobKeeper payments while remaining in the black during 2020, research shows.

Gerry Harvey who pocketed $$millions from Morrison for Jobkeeper during COVID. #FuckHarvey

An update on this: the Bishop confirms his priests did get JobKeeper during COVID (even though his lawyers argue in another context they aren’t technically employed by the diocese and therefore the diocese isn’t vicariously liable if they abused children) because churches closed during lockdowns.
A question for Bishop Bird, of Ballarat, who instructed his lawyers to go all the way to High Court to avoid paying damages to a complainant of child sexual abuse on basis that priests aren’t technically employed by his diocese:
Did your priests accept JobKeeper during COVID pandemic?
If so, why?

Does Angus not remember his Gov gave out $40 billion in Jobkeeper to businesses that didn’t need it which caused an inflation crisis led by corporate profits?

Very dodgy
Repay JobKeeper

Indeed. Fun fact - Josh Frydenberg made explicitly changes to JobKeeper to include priests but exclude universities.

Why did Dutton & his mates give out $40 billion to businesses that didn’t need Jobkeeper with no mechanism to recover it?

@australianlabor.bsky.social

Lib candidate for McPherson told me on the phone yesterday that the Liberal Party introduced JobKeeper and saved the economy over Covid.

Time you remind the Australian people that Australian Unions fought for, and won, JobKeeper.

Was $40 Billion in Jobkeeper to businesses that didn’t need it wasteful spending?
February 2, 2025 at 11:52 AM
Dutton banging on abt “wasteful spending” & how he’s creating a US-style DOGE.

The coalition WASTED billions on-

Jobkeeper
Paladin
Detention
Car parks
Sports rorts
GBRF
Watergate
Community development grants
BBR fund
NBN

Might want to start with those👆🏻

Don’t start me on nuclear & free lunches.

So when's Gerry Harvey getting chased for the rest of the Jobkeeper money then? #auspol
January 20, 2025 at 1:44 AM
"A spokeswoman for Plibersek said “the government takes its responsibility for upholding the integrity of Australia’s social security system seriously”.

Harvey Norman kept the $22 million it collected in JobKeeper in 2021 despite posting a $462 million profit.

Like Margaret Court’s ‘church’ in WA that received over $500,000 in JobKeeper payments despite no lockdowns in WA.

Scott Morrison receives top award for his services during COVID pandemic. Was win secured by his delays in the non race of acquiring vaccines or his $40 billion gift to businesses that didn’t need Jobkeeper?

Albo 'grew up in public housing' Labor govt with a 94-seat super-majority, fails people on Jobkeeper & other income support, AGAIN

Choosing to keep people in poverty will result in "avoidable excess mortality"👇

It is social murder. Cruel and unacceptable.

If they don't have employees, they can pay back all the Jobkeeper money they scammed.
December 31, 2024 at 11:26 PM
Peter Dutton asked “where’s the money coming from” for his whopping $21 Billion Defence spend, avoids answering by using example of emergency uncosted Jobkeeper funding during COVID as a reason on why he can’t produce details or costs, then pivots to fuel.
He’s getting worse 🤦‍♂️

How in the mind-bending fuck do we live in a country where rock spider priests can’t be sued by survivors because they “aren’t employees of the Catholic Church” but the exact same priests were paid JobKeeper as employees by the Catholic fucking Church?
