the actual biggest problem with wanting people to move to the fediverse is that mastodon completely flubbed introducing the concept to the world, so it has a relatively small userbase and isnt viable for anyone who makes art for a living

My suggestion was a setup per community … rather than just Dan’s page (or anyone’s one page).
The context is needed for a regional or interest community that one is attempting to onboard.

Might actually pair nicely with

Is there a decent non-Bluesky account creation frontend out there? I've got some people that want to join atproto but not Bluesky and telling them to go through the Bluesky flow but then enter `selfhosted.social` or whatever is confusing

yeah I would love to not force people to go somewhere else manually and then come back. Bksy has a signup flow built in that works with any pds. no reason why apps can't have that as well. and then yup list some public ones, tho I hate the joinmastodon problem too

Joinmastodon confused the hell out of me when I first joined the fediverse, so I agree it’s worth exploring other routes.
I want to be able to offer a first-class sign-up flow without pointing to someone else’s brand, or over-stretching in this (charitable, rather than VC, funded) project.
