the only characters i really ever resonated with in overwatch are lucio, mei, zenyatta, dva, junkrat and roadhog. the rest i never felt strongly about and in retrospect i think this is why, they have an actual story and unique premise

I don’t know about this part. You’d kind of have to exclusively be looking at extreme body types for this to be true, depending on if you mean the characters available at the time when Concord came out, or just in general.
I mean Mei, Zarya, Roadhog, and Junkrat were there since OW’s launch alone.

I need Blizzard to stop trying to encourage people to play Roadhog. He's the worst tank in the game and I hate him. He would be the worst character in the game if Junkrat didn't exist.

Junkrat: Seemingly had a resurgence according to not just winrates but also pro play so it's actually possible to justify nerfs. Specifically, Concussion Mine max damage decreased from 120 to 100 just so he has to be a bit more precise when he makes my 225 HP self sad.
