In a flurry of teleportation magicks, Venat alighted on the white stone flooring of Anagnorisis and smoothened out her robes. The sky was streaked in the blue and lilac tones of early twilight, painting a beautiful serenity over the isles that constituted Elpis. It was late, and there were few researchers out and about, which only heightened the sense of boundless solitude that often pervaded the facility in these quieter hours. Venat strode forward with certain steps, whistling softly. Argos summoned, she mounted him without preamble and set off for the skies, her destination already in mind.

Taking several steps forward, Meteor grabs a fistful of hair at the base of Moro'a's braid, and he finally makes a noise, rumbling from his chest like a coeurl's purr. He tugs harder, and the rumbling becomes an open-mouthed sigh. With a little effort, Meteor undoes the tie holding his braid together, and his hair spills out in turbulent waves of blue and green.

No sooner had he lowered his head to peer closer at the water did Leofard's hand land on his back with an encouraging, very suspicious thump, to the tune of his sly grin. "Why, I'm sorely tempted to take a dip, but it's always best to test the waters first, eh?" "Don't you-!" Leaning over the edge had been an obvious mistake, and Moro'a was pushed into the pool with a yelp and a loud splash that sent the leeches at the other end hopping away. Of course the water was freezing — the chill went through his clothes in an instant, the heavy fabric sagging and sticking to his skin with the extra weight. Moro'a surfaced with a sputter, blinking the water out of his eyes as his ears swiveled towards the sound of Leofard's laughter as he lay doubled over at the pool's edge. But two could play a prank, and in a heartbeat Moro'a launched himself towards the hyur and grabbed his sleeve, yanking back with all of his weight.

- “Do you trust me?” | “Stop staring.” - The creak of wooden floors/bridge/etc | (Bolded) Rain/Snow/Ash falling from the air Up here on the battlements, the snow came down in gentle, diagonal droves, prickling at his skin wherever it settled. Something about the quiet of it all filled his chest; awe perhaps, or melancholy, and a wild impulse compelled him to slip his right hand out from the confines of its glove and stretch it out towards the dark. He winced as the cold bit instantly, and pain flared around the tender ring of scabs that had yet to harden around his wrist. The snow turned the pain into numbness, the tips of his fingers rapidly losing sensation. It was far from pleasant, he acknowledged, but it was different, and if that made things even just a little bit better… A pair of feet ascended the stairs from behind him, the heavy thudding of sollerets against stone, and Moro'a had neither the time nor inclination to conceal what he was doing as he turned around to see Haurchefant.

The terminal shuddered again. Momentarily distracted, Erenville watched, transfixed as a thousand thousand electrope lights flickered and began to blink out in a descending cascade. With astonishing speed, the entire terminal fell dark, and the rest of Living Memory followed without fanfare, leaving the entire city in shadow. The golden city was no more. He breathed out, the air exhaling from his lungs and ending in a shudder. It was done.

An itch (physical, mental or otherwise) (Written 20/02/2026) Koh'sae was no stranger to the fancies of the heart, having caught his fair share of eyes at the taverns. Years of plying relatives and friends alike with his charm had honed it into a tool of finesse, and there had been many an overture, given or received—and returned. But Moro'a was a friend, and that made the difference night from day. Oh, Menphina, he thought of him endlessly these days. Like itches from the inside of his head, he couldn't scratch out the thought of his beautiful eyes, the sheen of his ocean dark hair beneath Her gaze, nor the way his movements made something so mundane as lifting a crate the very picture of grace; his quiet, lovely way of talking. And now, in his direst of hours, he would not see Moro'a for the next sennight. A full sennight. Koh'sae was beginning to understand how a man might go mad.

Tonight, I mean," the words fall from his mouth in a flurry, and Koh'sae feels like he's tumbling headfirst down a hill, too late to stop himself as Moro'a throws him a strange look. "The skywatchers promised a clear night, and you mentioned wanting to look for constellations..." He's still wearing that odd look, and several long seconds pass before he turns, his back towards him as he returns to his tomes. Maybe Granae was right — too desperate by half, and now his fumble would come to pass the same way it always went, losing what he might've had if he'd only been a little less forward, a little…less. "Have you eaten yet?" It takes Koh'sae a moment to realise he'd been asked a question.

Moro'a stole a glance at Koh'sae under the pretense of sipping from his tankard and was struck by the feeling that hung between them, incandescent and irrevocable. He struggled to look away, and his eyes landed on the water where a row of lights threaded the dark surface, circling the moon's reflection. He was contemplating whether he should say something to clear the silence when fingers brushed against his free hand, lighter than air. The lights bobbed along the waves, in time with Moro'a's staccato heart. He felt faint, but something compelled him to reach back, hungering for more than a taste of the touch offered to him. He gathered his nerves and tried to mimic what Koh'sae had done but shot too far, clearing the tiny distance between their hands to rest his fingers over Koh'sae's in the time between two heartbeats.
