Worrell's tenure at Touchstone comes to a close with this seasonal slapstick outing celebrated by a generation of millennials who mark the Chiodo Brothers' incredible troll creations as legends of kindertrauma. Even when its silly Varney’s specific brand of comedy still delivers the goods.

People like to say that Gen Xers are as Hardcore as we are because we drank from fucking garden hoses and had little to no supervision from our absentee parents, but really I think we're all just fucked up from all our trauma bonding in childhood.

Crispino’s THE DEAD ARE ALIVE (1972), with its masochistic rogues gallery of chronic scene stealers thriving on steady diets of Etruscan coulisse, is an underrated giallo masterwork of glorious nastiness that makes excellent use of tropes like a shoe fetish, kaleidoscopic flashbacks & kindertrauma.
