Visual and kinesthetic learner… so I need to see and be hands on 👌🏻

While I agree with this, it's important that as a profession we push back on the sort of nonsense that existed for a while around learning styles, such "Show me three places in this four page lesson plan where you have included an activity for kinesthetic learners" and nonsense like that.

Australian teachers continue to believe in learning styles myth despite evidence
A recent survey reveals that 88% of Australian teachers still believe in the learning styles myth, which was debunked nearly two decades ago. The myth suggests students learn better when taught according to their preferred learning style—visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or reading/writing. Education research fellow Trisha Jha expressed surprise at the high percentage, noting that the idea has been scientifically discredited since 2008. Despite this, the majority of teachers remain convinced of its validity, with only 12% recognizing it as a neuromyth. The survey, which included 377 teachers, also found mixed understanding of evidence-based learning principles. While 92% of teachers correctly identified that problem-solving should be practiced in context, and 74% understood that the brain can only process limited information at once, the persistence of the learning styles myth remains concerning. Jha highlighted that Australian teachers lack a coherent, evidence-aligned body of professional knowledge about learning, despite national efforts to align education policies with scientific evidence. University of Canberra lecturer Julia Davies-Duff noted that while newer teachers are exposed to cognitive science in their training, their application of this knowledge depends on their school environment. Schools that support evidence-based practices strengthen teachers' understanding, while those resistant to such approaches risk undermining their training. The Education Directorate reported that all ACT public school teachers have undergone professional learning based on cognitive science as part of the Strong Foundations program since 2025. Similarly, Catholic schools have implemented the Catalyst program, with most teachers reporting strong use of science of learning principles. Despite these initiatives, the survey indicates a significant gap between policy and classroom practice. Davies-Duff mentioned that the ResearchED Canberra conference, which focused on evidence-based practices, sold out weeks in advance, indicating a strong teacher appetite for professional development. However, the persistence of the learning styles myth suggests that more work is needed to ensure evidence-based teaching methods are consistently applied across all schools.

It's important to draw, even if you're not skilled in it, because it establishes links with parts of our brains that aren't always brought in to deal with imagined people. Kinesthetic associations are important, too.

It can be a stick figure image. What matters is that we drew it ourselves.

I would have to check most of these. 😂 Rarely 2 and 6 (like a handful of times over my entire life). #sdam #aphantasia

the best way I can describe this series is that at times it can be "virtually kinesthetic" in a way that I don't really see replicated in other webseries, and that makes all the impossible moves it does much easier to believe. you could tell me this is a real source engine glitch and i'd believe you

He needs to participate to get it~

Luna is a genetically engineered secret agent! Her augmented nervous system has programmable kinesthetic mimicry, letting her mimic highly complex motor skills by "downloading" them via a port in her navel. But this incredibly useful talent comes with a terrible weakness: easily compromised nerves!

My university has decided to "collaborate" by allowing google to come recruit students to the dark side with their AI bullshit.
Anyone who knows any cognitive psychology will enjoy their pitch.
And just for fun, I asked google's AI about learning styles. I got a response!

Nice plan there, Kuon🤔.
I'd call you out for cheating, but I think I've pulled something like this before, so nvm😭😭
(Also, apparently Kuon is a kinesthetic learner🤔)

something i keep thinking about but do not know how to put into words exactly

is that fantasy was a lot easier to imagine and had an entirely different kinesthetic quality to it when i was a child and was like playing outside and writing things on sketch paper pretending it was parchment

I've always been a very kinesthetic person; I learn a lot through touch. And, ha, who would have thought it also makes my memories flow?
It just happened to me with an assignment for next week; I remembered sensations, smells, I was transported back to the moment I'm talking about in that text.

MA conditioning is much of what landed me in bed in the first place (didn't know I had EDS until later), but that training also enables me to walk. It would be VERY unsafe for me to self-ambulate if I had less developed kinesthetic skills.

The Learning Styles Myth | Why Matching a Preferred Style Does Not Improve Learning – What Predicts It Instead
Visual, auditory, kinesthetic: most classrooms still sort children this way. Direct tests of matching a lesson to a preferred style turn up no learning boost at all. What moves the needle is simpler: a format that fits the material, a diagram for a floor plan, a spoken story for a narrative, practice for a physical skill. Firefly Ed's classes are built around that idea.

We also had a duck scavenger hunt during break in 7th period English.

One of my finance students has a lot of kinesthetic energy and likes to wander during breaks. He has escalations in other classrooms.

He wanted to hide the ducks the day before and I said go for it!

His frontotemporal dementia has destroyed his kinesthetic sense.

He doesn't know where his body is in space, so he taps so he can use his legs.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Eons later, I've figured out I have ADHD, 3 learning disorders & now autism too. I can't memorize anything without hours & hours of trying. My short term memory is a sieve. Now if I'd known about how writing things down bypasses stm & to long term & I learn it easily. Kinesthetic learning
