Overnight, 10 Shahed drones struck the bridge near Mayaky in Odesa region, and later that day a ballistic missile hit it. Video shows the warhead was cluster type. The bridge has been damaged, and the Kishinev–Odesa route is temporarily closed.

Is there a way to talk about the disturbing wave of attacks on Jews in London without making it sound like it's 1903 Kishinev and "is it time to leave?" Because I don't think it's helping. I personally respond better to messages of resilience.

I'm... not sure what the point of this comparison is, other than to try to downplay Kishinev and implicitly criticize Jews for caring about pogroms against Jews, don't they know other people have it as bad!?

Kishinev-based Reporter of Pale of the Settlement issues for Novoye Vremya asks: did they have that pogrom coming?

My initial reaction was that's silly, we're nowhere near seeing a repeat of Kishinev, but then I remembered the *1905* Kishinev pogrom that was explained away by the Russian ambassador as being an uprising of the poor against the Jewish banker class, and well...we're in Kishinev again.

The same day as D-Day, the Soviets failed to take Bessarabia and Eastern Romania in the First Jassy–Kishinev - what would have happened had Army Group South Ukraine been reinforced ahead of the Second Jessy-Kishinev? Would the Romanian Coup have succeeded if they had half a million more Heer?

The Kishinev pogrom was to the Second Aliyah what the Holocaust was to mid-century Jewish immigrants to Eretz Israel.

What's really embarrassing is that Bret Stephens is a Jew. His paternal grandfather fled the Kishinev pogrom. His maternal grandparents fled Nazi Germany. He is not ignorant of the stakes.

what changed was:
1. the Dreyfus affair
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreyfus...
2. the Kishinev massacre where neighbour murdered Jewish neighbour
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kishine...
which were accurately read as demonstrating the position of Jews in Europe & prefigured...

Collecting evidence and documenting antisemitic violence has been an integral part of Jewish self-help practices since the Kishinev pogrom in 1903. The USC Shoah Foundation announced now that they plan to collect testimonies of survivors and witnesses of the Hamas massacre of Oct 7. 1/2

But there's the rub. In order to use the Apartheid model effectively, in order to leverage its advantage that *you don't need a history class - you don't get sidetracked to talk about the Bible or the Kishinev Pogrom - you need to *put the history aside*, and think of Palestine/Israel as one place.

So which pogrom is it comparable to then? Kishinev? Hebron? Tulsa against Black Americans? Istanbul against the Greeks? How much suffering does someone have to experience to qualify for your standards?
Sorry, this event is not comparable to Kristallnacht.
Not all pogroms are Kristallnacht, and Kristallnacht was far more than a(n extended) pogrom.

the poem smears the victims of the 1903 Kishinev Easter pogrom, suggesting they were weak and cowardly and essentially deserved what happened to them. (it's a lie; Jewish ppl resisted during the pogrom.)

Love how to these dorks the destruction of Genosha is more real to them than the Kishinev pogrom and possibly even the Holocaust.
“Hey, I’m on X and this critique of Krakoa looks interesting, let’s read it!”

“Krakoa isn’t like Israel because mutants are actually an endangered species.”

They weren't allies of anyone but the British retention of the Mandate. If the British could have kept the Jews from arriving from the concentration camps in Palestine and retained the mandate, they would have. If they could have stopped the exodus from Russia that began after Kishinev...

here's Kishinev in Galisteo, which was mostly just the cover lettering & layout from me - i also used some more of Annie's photoshoot with Jordan for the disc labels. sort of fun to see everything in the templates like this (behind the scenes album production!)
