Curious who's really pulling the strings behind the Inquest? Let's peek into their tangled web of krewes.

In delightful Mardi Gras news, a couple of Cybertrucks paraded with US flags in one of the more racist krewes.

After being booed and relentlessly pelted with plastic beads by spectators, the windshields and windows were broken and they had to leave the parade early.

"The Inquest is presently made up of multiple krewes run by leading overseers and directors. The largest Inquest krewe directs the whole operation. "

When the queen of one of New Orleans’ oldest Black krewes meets a handsome stranger, she’s head over heels! But will the romance survive the fact his family is in one of the city’s old-line racist krewes? Hallmark presents COMUS YOU ARE #mardigrasromcom

Apparently one of the Mardi Gras krewes had Cybertrucks in their parade. They had to pull them off the route because people were hucking beads at them and they cracked a windshield.

Potentially of interest to those concerned with the ties between Carnival krewes and white supremacy in New Orleans

Some of my favorite Mardi Gras throws are the little magnets certain walking krewes give out.

The old time krewes REALLY love the old days of European society.

Lords and ladies
Courts and fancy balls

(Pay no attention to how the peasants were doing).

The Laissez Boys ride motorized lounge chairs. New Orleans marching krewes are amazing.

When Dorothy Mae Taylor’s ordinance to desegregate Carnival krewes passed, Dr. Francis received so many invitations to join formerly all white krewes he couldn’t possibly join them all.

Sympathies to his large extended family.

And to think, women and all-female krewes are a significant part of keeping New Orleans Carnival going these days.
Carnival Facts:
The first all-female parade krewe, Krewe of Venus, had their first parade in 1941. They were met with rain & heckling men & women along their route. It was believed women shouldn't ride; a misconception Venus was correcting. Venus disbanded in the 1990s.

If you wanna know what it looks like when a bunch of Protestants try to do Carnival, the local krewes in Shreveport have announced the start of “Mardi Gras season.” In October.

The oldest, white dude Krewes have throws that are boring and stingily tossed.

Medium age all gender Krewes are more creative and more generous.

Truly excellent, beautiful or useful throws come from the all-women and Black Krewes.

"Family oriented" is a nicer way to describe the Rex and Comus krewes instead of "insular wealth hoarding organizations for the benefit of a few." #rexcomus

New Orleans price gouges small Krewes by demanding protection money while giving the millionaires in Rex a free ride
New Orleans has beefed up security for Mardi Gras. For smaller parading krewes, it's costly
The city is requiring more police officers at parades this year, putting higher costs on smaller, independent krewes vital to New Orleans’ Mardi Gras heritage.

The only kings I am okay with are the following: king cake, kings of Mardi Gras Krewes, drag kings, and the occasional Elvis impersonators.
