The New KM4CFT KX2 and KX3 Iambic Paddle Kit
My friend Jonathan (KM4CFT) recently sent me a neat little prototype paddle he designed for the Elecraft KX2 and KX3 field transceivers. He wanted my feedback, so he generously sent me a set to evaluate at no charge. Lately, I’ve been tied up with the final stages of debris cleanup here at the QTH, leaving little time for field activations. While I haven’t had the chance to take these paddles out into the field yet (stay tuned!) I’ve thoroughly tested them on both my Elecraft KX3 and KX2.

Well, the first bug on the KX3 is fixed - no more ERR IOB - swapped out the IO expander B device after the thermal camera showed it getting hot for no reason. Came out fairly cleanly!
Next job to check the RX path and update the firmware. #hamradio

Dagnabbit, I wish I needed a new rig, as a KX3 or KX2 would be dead spiffy. Trouble is, with the exception of general coverage, my 13 year-old K2 has everything I need in an HF transceiver. Who said that ham radio is an expensive hobby? This plucky little radio just keeps on chugging!

Early days but £=performance seems good - it’s no KX3/2 but neither is it knocking on a grand s/h😱 it’s very smol which is ideal

I've been playing with this ATU for λ/2 end feds. With 9.9m of wire up a 10m pole and a short "stub" on the other end of the coil it tunes 20m (KX3 shows 1:1 swr) .

I had an alert for them on eBay for a while. Both KX2 and KX3.
They do come up occasionally, but hold their price. I played around with one when I did a repair of a KX3 for M0VID. I then did a SOTA activation on 10m CW with Dave's KX3 and figured I needed one.
