her backstory is littered with, uh, obvious lacunae where the explanation for how she got a particular story (including her first big story) involves a serious ethical violation

I tried to turn this into readable prose just now and found myself frustrated by all the bizarre word choices and logical lacunae also stuffed into the Sentence.
in case you think we are exaggerating, behold The Sentence

if people are aggressively anti learning stuff that's another thing entirely but each of us has a body of knowledge with lacunae we "should" know, if someone learns a fact and is excited, the good response is "yay!" or maybe "here's something i know directly related, isnt that cool?!"

It always struck me back in 2016 (and since) as the biggest lacunae in the elite press's understanding of Trump was his decade-long stint as an popular network TV star and what impact that had on the electorate.

i fell down a research K hole for 3 days and now know a frankly weird amount about pastrami and the history of romanian independence, but crucially NOT the fact i went diving so deep for, which has ELUDED me because culinary history is a mass of myths and lacunae

If someone puts a gun to your head and tells you to prove you have an MFA, don’t be a hero. Use the word “palimpsest”
