Both the grocery store and ferry charge a fee, but it's absolutely worth it! There's no way to catch a ferry from Stehekin, go down lake, and come back on the same day. So, if we wanted to shop ourselves we'd pay ~$80 for the ferry plus a hotel. #stehekin #northcascadesnationalpark #lakechelan

A last-minute hiking plan change in June due to the onset of the Pioneer Fire by Lake Chelan. The fire forced an evacuation of Stehekin, Washington, and was only declared fully contained four months later.

Shortly before the west coast became a blazing inferno, I went on a 500 mile motorcycle ride with my Dad. It was great. In the last photo, you can see the smoke rolling in to Lake Chelan. It was crazy and windy.
