This 'earthworm' has a flickering tongue! And that's because it's NOT an earthworm, it's a Brahminy blind snake (Indotyphlops braminus).

They live in the dirt, eating insect larvae, harmless to humans.

Let's talk about this ALL-FEMALE SPECIES & their genetics.

Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major): This 24cm (9.4in) bird is found in Asia, extreme North Africa and most of Europe. They drill into trees & dig beetle larvae out, also feeding on spiders, ants and other insects. Thank you again Karen O'Reilly for sharing a cracking photo taken in the UK.

My wife keeps panicking about finding these mysterious little lumps stuck to the wall behind our sofa. Google Lens tells her they're some kind of pest larvae. When do I tell her they're my dried up bogeys, subtly flicked when she's not looking?
