Why do laundromats insist on having the most uncomfortable seating in the world

Laundromats are a financial siphon! I'm cleaning my shirts by driving through the car wash with the windows down! *SPLASH!* Wax, rinse, blow-dry! My dashboard is full of pine suds and I clipped a vacuum stand, but the fabric freshness, George? Impeccable! Automated laundry!

I miss working from home. Yes yes mostly because I can just be in shorts. “Gaz wants to be mostly nude what a surprise.” Yes duh but also…in the office every day now…I have to do laundry more often than I’m used to now with no machines in my apartment. The laundromats around here are expensive too.

I love Dan Pelosi but this promo photo highlights why Ruggables are pieces of shit. Wrinkly, thin, edges don’t lay flat, it probs won’t actually fit in your home washer, many laundromats don’t let you wash them in their machines.

forgot how much i love being inside laundromats, the budget ones with the 80s vending machines. they were some of the only big places i got to run around in as a kid. the machines were so big and cool, and kinda loud and scary. like i could be sucked inside them.

Donald Yatomi spent decades designing worlds for Sony and DreamWorks. Now he paints the places most people walk past without looking. No wonder he ended up drawing for The Black Book! https://bit.ly/4jHqfL1

Tangent: I read somewhere that money laundering was named after laundromats, because that was the first business to do it.

Laundromats are a racket! I’m washing my pants right in the dishwasher! *CLACK!* Heavy cycle, extra dry! My trousers got melted to a casserole dish, but the turnaround time, George? Unmatched! Pure kitchen-to-closet integration!

Every bar/tavern near me has video gaming. Laundromats have video gaming. It’s depressing.

The wildest part about poverty is how much time it steals. Waiting for buses. Calling assistance offices. Comparing grocery prices. Fighting insurance. Sitting at laundromats. Being poor is a second job nobody pays you for.

My bff and I were talking about this earlier today. Women should be able to go out and have a few drinks w/o being raped. But it happens to sober women in laundromats, walking down the street, or at home alone in bed. Men put drugs in women’s drinks whether Coke or gin. Rapists are always men. So—?!
People should be able to get drunk without getting raped. However, the sober mind is less likely to fall into a rapist's or murderers trap. I seldom drink at all because I rely on my mind to avoid murderers, muggers, and thieves. Regardless of our rights, avoiding intoxication increases safety.

It's funny.. from cleaning laundromats with my mom in my early teens to where I am now, what I've learned is the less you work, the more you get paid.

I read:
“Cracked down on bad landlords”

As,
“Cracked down on bad laundromats”

Guess it’s time for a break!

Walking through Queens in NYC is fascinating bc there's a border where the laundromats have Spanish language signage and then where they have Chinese language signage, but also this interstitial bilingual zone
