Human laundromats love to fold

I think they should put libraries in laundromats. Or laundromats in libraries.

society would be greatly improved if we required the wealthy to use laundromats

Dueling Laundromats

If you live in the Cities, an easy way to help immigrant families in hiding is: laundry! Laundromats are ICE magnets, so people without washers need help.

The People’s Laundry will drop off laundry to your door to wash and dry and pick up a few days later:

LAUNDROMATS HATE HIM: Save Time In The Bathroom With One Simple Trick
July 8, 2026 at 1:25 PM
that being said: i would however support government owned laundromats in major cities
Also, not sure how well known this, but: laundry detergent is more stolen for its value and ability to be resold, and less for individual need/use.
I know it's only half-serious but this really captures the level of inability to understand social consequences of private actions that a ton of progressives suffer from.

And communal laundromats and kindergartens in every neighborhood!

It's why the Beat movement famously sprang from laundromats and hardware stores
“Coffee shops” weren’t even really a thing until a few decades ago! It was like this Seattle oddity that went national to great fanfare. Starbucks was high-brow, not low-brow
As teens the thing to do was to hang out and drink coffee and smoke, and the cool kids did that at Perkins and us dorks were at Grandma’s Restaurant because there wasn’t even Starbucks. First time I saw a real coffeeshop was Rochambo on Brady Street in Milwaukee in like 1999.

hell, community college campuses, preferably at night. outside the distribution center in the smoking area. ghost kitchen pickup zones. 24-hour laundromats (wherever they still exist).
tired of interviews. of diners in rural ohio. get me interviews in. black barbershops in cincinnati. and mexican restaurants in cleveland.

Make a zine. About anything. Print four. Hide them in laundromats.

existing outside of time and space
Laundromats feel like they exist outside of time and space.

The sign for me is always laundromats. Laundromats downtown mean people live there. No laundromats means only tourists. This has not steered me wrong yet.

So I worry when the laundromats start closing.

I have a decades old idea that I even wrote a proposal for years ago: A chain of solar powered laundromats. Obviously to be called "Sundromat"
Take a break from the discourse and quote this with a business you would want to start if you could afford to lose money on it

the problem with libraries, as with laundromats, grocery stores, and the subway, is that men always think it's a fucking meet-cute and i'm their future wife, i just don't know it yet. my man you have no idea how wrong you are
April 15, 2025 at 6:12 PM
Laundromats should have memberships. All you can wash for $30 a month or whatever.

Before anyone says "But the FGC needs big money to survive"
Fuck off
The FGC can exist anywhere with any resource. We'll run Top 8s in a bathroom. The FGC wasn't born in stadiums, it was born in laundromats and our buddy Ted's basement on weekends. It's always been a grassroots collection of friends

In this house we believe

Apartments are superior to SFHs
Mixed use is superior to residential zoning <--- you are here
Restaurants are superior to kitchens
In building laundromats are superior to in unit laundromats
I think the anti-burrito taxi discourse on here is driven by American Calvinist sentiment from people who think cooking and suffering is a virtue. It's not economically optimal to cook at home.

ICE is raiding
