I don't see a conflict between abundance and antitrust. To the contrary, YIMBY policy is intended to help create many small- and medium-scale infill builders who can out-compete big single family developers like Lennar as well as large-scale apartment developers like Greystar.

Prefab housing built in a factory that is cheaper than a normal house exists, it’s called a mobile or manufactured home. Most people prefer a slab and whatever the cheapest thing Lennar can throw up if they have the scratch and I can say from living in both, the low level Lennar home is nicer.

The space that remains for starter homes is those little tiny Lennar houses that everyone on here loathes that target the lower middle class pretty explicitly, a lot of people earning more like the amenities of the apartments and it comes through in renter income numbers.
