Today is Eddie Harris' birthday! RIP. A legendary sax player. This song blew me away the first time I heard it. It can still generate goosebumps.

Les McCann on the piano

Old blues tune. Neil just sits in it. No hurry. His low voice doing what it always did, making the room feel low light & half empty

Listening to Les McCann Pretty Lady. This could fall into the category of cocktail music, but what’s wrong with a couple cocktails in the lounge and some calming music? If you don’t like calming music, go spin some tires. #LesMcCann #vinyl #jazz #peace

2/ Sort of reminds me of #EddieHarris and #LesMcCann

Having fallen hard for "layers" I'm revisiting the Les McCann I have in my collection. Here he is with Eddie Harris in 1971. I can do without the vocals but otherwise this cooks! #nowplaying #vinyl #lesmccann #eddieharris

I collect white label promo copies of old albums which often sound better/different than stock copies. Case in point: the classic hit 1969 live LP by #LesMcCann & #EddieHarris. 1of3

Giving one more spin to the new 3LP 1966-67 live archival set from Resonance Records by the late great Les McCann before putting it into the collection. The 3rd LP from the Village Vanguard is particularly outstanding. My review is up now on Analog Planet (dot com). #musicsky #jazzsky #lesmccann

Been on a bit of Les McCann kick while working on a review of an archival release from him... Hadn't listened to this one in some time... Now Playing: 1971's Invitation To Openness... #musicsky #jazzsky #lesmccann #jazzfusion

Swingin' into Tuesday with Les McCann's (RIP) 2nd album as a leader, 1960's The Shout. While not especially collectible, some early Pacific Jazz stereo LPs were issued on colored vinyl.
