#leverage:redemption
We endeavor to be paper free when possible in the LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION set.

How did we write an episode about this on LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION a full year ago? Research, kids. Your story is in the research.
New from 404 Media: the age of realtime deepfake fraud is here. Scammers in Nigeria are using realtime deepfakes to change their race, facial hair, gender, more to appear as someone else on video calls. Results very realistic now. Also tricking verification systems www.404media.co/the-age-of-r...
The Age of Realtime Deepfake Fraud Is Here
Fraudsters are able to change their race, facial hair, voice, and more during live video calls with very little effort. Scammers are already fooling the elderly and verification systems.

Well, one episode in the next season of LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION just got a lot more relevant.
The final SCOTUS decision today is Snyder v. US. Kavanaugh has the court's 6-3 decision on ideological grounds, holding that the Section 666 bribery statute does not apply to "gratuities" given for public officials' *past* acts. Jackson writes the liberals' dissent.

One of the reasons the Leverage:Redemption S3 premiere villain was water based was because I disappeared down this research rabbit hole last year and came up very, very shook. Mexico City came within inches of a full water shutdown in 2024.
tehran is a city of 10 million people, and this article was published one week ago, to give you a sense of the urgency here

We did this exact story in Season 1 of LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION three years ago.

LEVERAGE -- come for the banter and heists, stay for the quick glimpses of your near future dystopia!
The officer in question made frequent use of Clearview AI's facial recognition technology for personal reasons, often employing the tech to track down social media users not linked to any crimes
Cop busted for unauthorized use of Clearview AI facial recognition resigns
Indiana cop easily hid frequent personal use of Clearview AI face scans.

I admit it’s fun for this and LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION getting better reviews than we ever got the first time around is once the fun genre shows disappeared, a whole generation realized “oh shit, we loved those shows, why did you take them away?”

The Librarians: The Next Chapter is a charming throwback, with a monster-of-the-week format that’s light, fun, and refreshingly unburdened by heavy mythology.

Did we do a Leverage:Redemption story on this in the upcoming season? Yes! Was it the worst thing in our research this season? NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Yaaaaaay.
“Politicians are downplaying any sense of crisis, but some experts say the situation has now reached such critical levels that Mexico City could be barreling towards ‘day zero’ in a matter of months — where the taps run dry for huge swaths of the city.”
Mexico City may be just months away from running of out water | CNN
The metropolis of nearly 22 million people is facing a severe water crisis as a tangle of problems — including geography and leaks — are compounded by climate change.

Also, if you were wondering why the season finale of Leverage:Redemption last year was a refutation of the Melian Dialogue, "the strong do what they will", condemned systemic cruelty and offered illegal resistance is legitimate, as opposed to a fun heist, it's because WE'D DONE THE FUCKING READING.

The exhausting thing is we had Noah Wyle give the "big bag of money" speech in LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION to point out how morally bankrupt and ridiculous this concept of corruption is, had multiple audience members say "Wait, that can't be right OH MY GOD WHAT?" and this national reporter is 😀 👍.
Corruption requires explict quid pro quo. It is not corrupt to take an action that aligns with the interest of a person who gives you a gift, unless the official action was in direct response to that gift--a bribe. Terms matter. Accuracy and fairness matters. Regardless of what social media wants.

FWIW the Leverage:Redemption ghost gun episode — which of course is the combo burrito with “it’s perfectly legal to bribe a judge!” storyline — was the one that finally had the writing staff break open my liquor cabinet.

How easy is it to 3D-print a ghost gun in 2025? Have American gun laws have caught up?

The answer—after @agreenberg.bsky.social built and tested the exact same pistol used in the killing of the UnitedHealthcare CEO—is that it's easier than ever.
We Made Luigi Mangione’s 3D-Printed Gun—and Fired It
In the wake of Luigi Mangione’s alleged killing of a health care CEO with a partially 3D-printed pistol, we built and tested the exact same model of weapon ourselves. And it was entirely legal.

An interesting generational divide in the LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION writers room when the older writers explained that you were expected to go to your car to cry at work, and everybody was cool with the “I need to get something from my car” excuse.

It's one of the reasons Sophie and Harry Wilson are friends on LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION. Platonic representation!

I will admit one of the fun things about the streaming era is that I will awake at 6am and hundreds if not thousands of you beloved maniacs will already have torn apart, gif-ed and fan-theoried the first 3 eps of LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION to graduate dissertation level.

Ah, first time this season in the LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION writer's room, we were doing a deep dive on the villain and one of the writers rubbed their forehead and sighed, "which cabinet is the liquor in?"

So evil! So legal!

in a just world the Leverage:Redemption team would be about to do something *really* good
The thief got away with Noem’s driver’s license, medication, apartment keys, passport, DHS access badge, makeup bag, blank checks, and about $3,000 in cash.
The Secret Service has launched an investigation to trace any use of Noem’s financial instruments, the person added.

One of the worst things about researching this last season of LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION was wallowing in the wave, absolute tidal shift in the US not just normalizing but valorizing child labor. I know it's a bit off topic, but once you see it, you see it EVERYWHERE, dragged into every argument.
Congressman Rich McCormick says of potential cuts to free school lunches for children: "Hey, I worked my way through high school...since before I was even 13 years old, I was picking berries in the field before we had child labor laws"

When you see a character say this exact speech in LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION next season please know it was written and shot two months ago, and we are not stealing it from you. Just want to avoid hard feelings.

Reason 1,224 you listen to your room as a showrunner is that we were all uselessly hammering at the title to this week's LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION in the room and after ten minutes writer's assistant Jacky Watson (who also co-wrote the Digital Frankenstein ep) dropped "The Polygeist Job" on the table.

It’s so good to have Leverage:Redemption back:)

Hey, it's LEVERAGE:REDEMPTION writer Jamey Perry with the premiere of her clothing line!

I do not have a clothing line, but I will of course speak at length on the virtues of paramedic shirts. But Jamey made this stuff!
For the last year, I’ve been working with JCPenney to solve some of the most common issues that women in wheelchairs face in dressing daily—for work, for dates, for fun, for self-expression.

Jamey Perry for JCPenney just debuted on the Runway of Dreams at NYC Fashion Week ❤️

It’s on Freevee and Amazon Prime, although a lot of the … fun? Some people did not find it fun. But some of the fun’s taken away by knowing Leverage:Redemption is out there.
