About 6 months ago. It cost me $2200. But it is very high spec. I also have an LGA1150 socket PC with an i5, 16GB, and an 8GB RX580 GPU that I put together for a few hundred, using 2nd hand parts, that can play most games.

- spare storage, whether ide/sata/nvme, tested prefarably

I think it’s funny that people think they need a super computer to do anything on a computer these days,
It greatly depends on what you’re trying to do, but Intel’s LGA1155(2-3 gen), LGA1150(4-5 gen), and LGA2011(x79&x99 chipsets/High End)
Are all capable platforms that l run DDR3(check if on x99)

Core i7 4790Kとかいう2014年製のCPUが調子悪くなってきたのでCore i5 14400Fに買い替えた
それに伴ってマザーボードもLGA1150ソケットからLGA1700ソケット対応のものに変える必要があったし
RAMももうすでにDDR3なんていう規格は陳腐化していて新たにDDR4（これももはや一昔前の規格）規格のRAMを買う必要があった
寿命のきたパーツを変えようとすると他にも色々更新しなきゃいけないところがでてくるんすねー
それに伴ってマザーボードもLGA1150ソケットからLGA1700ソケット対応のものに変える必要があったし
