This is a photo of a mushroom on a forest floor. The mushroom is small and the traditional stool variety. The cap, the top, is a uniform soft pinkish red, in a matte. The base is pure white. There are brown leaves and twigs on the floor surrounding the mushroom. It’s dark, like the sun is just setting and the pink and white of the mushroom stands out from the drab brown of the floor.

Found a land rover defender with the sort of organic patina usually seen on something abandoned in the woods, but apparently still works (for a land rover defender definition of “works”, I assume)

On a tree trunk covered with bright yellow-green and pale blue-green lichen in various textures, a small drab-coloured jumping spider with an elongated, flattened body and thick front legs, seen from above and behind. Its abdomen is dark with rough somewhat irregular crenellated pale edges. The spider facing the camera while standing beside a ridge of bark. It has two large round middle eyes flanked with smaller ones, and a dark band going around the head at eye level. Side view, slightly motion blurred, as the spider investigates tiny crevices and caves in the colourful, reef-like landscape of the bark.

On smooth flat bark covered with light seafoam-to-leaf-green-coloured crustose lichen and bold yellow-green foliose lichen, a squat, shiny red mite with spiky hairs is next to a small woolly white clump, one of several visible on the tree trunk. A closer view shows the mite's pedipalps are buried in the fluff (they were moving around, in fact).

This is a photo of a mushroom. It is the side of a mushroom. The structural slats that hold the mushroom are the only part of the mushroom that is visible. Pure white lines of mushroom moving from the bottom to the top. They are craggy and broken and intermittent but always there. There is a fallen autumn leaf on the side. In a shady, lichen-encrusted crevasse on a tree trunk, a tiny almost translucent little spider reaches out a leg to a large fat vaguely peanut-shaped red mite that has tripped a silk line. The mite dwarfs the spider.

This is a small, 4-branched stick that fell out of a huge tree. It’s about 5 centimeters long, and features a few pops of bright yellow sunburst lichen (maybe some different types), several bits of pale sea-green hairy rosette lichen, some oakmoss lichen, and maybe some type of cartilage lichen - also varying shades of sea green. The blurry background is a mottled blur of autumn colors like brown, yellow, orange and green.

A mushroom. A detail of a mushroom. There is the stalk and then the underside of the ribs that hold the top of the mushroom up. The stalk is white, and there is some yellow and the ribs are brown. But it is too close to see the top of the mushroom. It’s just the stalk and the ribs. But there is just a hint, a hint of specks of purple near where the stalk opens out to the ribs. It’s a parasite, something eating the mushroom? Or maybe its symbiotic, and they live happily together. But it looks like tiny tiny tiny sprinkles on one small section of the mushroom.
