Uniquely named St Mary de Crypt in Gloucester. 12th C door renewed w Agnus Dei #tympanum in 19th C. Nice fish scaly lintel. And some fitting #IronworkThursday too.
Door with studded with iron all over and two decorative hinges. Coumns either side and a fish-scaley style lintel. The later tympanum above has the Lamb of God carrying a banner.

Love this foliate green man I came across today on Glasgow City Chambers. I've been photographing this building for years, and this was the first time I'd spotted him on a lintel above a door on John Street.

A skull with crossed, broken bones looks out from within a lintel. A reminder to all who passed below that they were moral and their time was limited. The lintel is also alive with carvings of fruit & leaves
- reminders of life. The lintel is gilded in places too. 18th century.
Sold 2023 at Bonhams
A carved stone skull stares out from the middle of a stone lintel. It has no lower jaw but there are a pair of crossed bones beneath it. Both bones are carved as if broken. A rectangular lintel decorated with a single skull that is located in the very middle of the lintel. This would have been located immediately above a doorway. The skull would have greeted all who passed underneath with its frosty stare.
