"Mauerbauertraurigkeit" is literally "wall-builder sadness". I love German and its literalisms.

getting to watch the whole thing twice in a literal interpretation and an in-the-spirit interpretatoin genuinely seems like the best way to consume a foreign story to contexturalize the literalisms so you can get a sense of how they parallel as.

Saint-Saëns ‘The Swan’, but it’s just the piano part under angry hissing.

Coda: An out of tune ”HOOOONNNNNNNNK”, and the pianist yelling at the bird.

🧵 Working on a new bit of LLM based tooling for myself this morning… a sort of ‘summerize for Jamie’ widget

Drag the file or URL on a magic icon… get back something with simpler language, with things like idoms & literalisms removed.

Using open source models running on my Mac.

Here’s my plan

One of those ironic literalisms too often thrown around by folks who are anything but!

I’ll be looking around bc my neurodivergent ass needs someone to be charmed by my quirks and literalisms

it's the strangest way people fixate on literalisms, on definites, on technically classifiable variables. this is a plague on broader discussion of art but the most classical mistake people make is this concept of a strict gender divide that marks one thing for one gender and else for another

as a european, maga christians aren‘t really considered christians. with their literalisms and their picking and choosing from the book to justify hateful politics… i argued with a texan abt the d-penalty once. he basically said, he decides, where the line is for someone to lose their right to life

Social Media is famous for dumb interactions

- something about the format almost certainly BLOCKS intended idioms, BOOSTING 'literalisms' in their place.

There's probably a PhD in exploring how that works...

Fair enough, maybe #aoc meant it that way, and I'm getting caught up on the literalisms... But like... I have real' hard knee jerk reaction to anything that says "he can stay".

Do you know that "#Tarot Literalisms" are? On one of my blog posts, I explained them and gave a couple of examples. And then my readers chimed in with some great (often humorous) examples of their own!

I agree. It also mixes with manga-style literalisms where you might use words like "emerge!" for a plant growing or "realize!" for an idea forming. SFX that emphasize the importance or dynamism of an action regardless of the actual sound or speed that it happens.

Ash Wednesday begins with a simple claim: “Remember that you are dust.” Not a metaphor but literal. Its one of the only literalisms I allow in my creaturerly theology. We come from dust, we go back to it. Stars, Dust Clouds, formations of planets, rocks from cooled magma ground into mud, dirt… dust

I was raised Catholic but thank god I was raised "what is a day to god? When a year could pass in a blink of an eye", and not evangelical Christian"no it was literally 6 days"... strangely it makes Catholic belief in transubstantiation and other literalisms harder to explain they understand metaphor

going a little feral thinking about the "touch me, sweet / forget the rest / hooks feel so nice / dug in my chest" lyrics in Dr. L'Ling for Ilya. trying not to do any gore for it though as much as I love literalisms. that's what Pryce is for.

My mom’s 1 complaint about Barbie: it didn’t address gay men’s relationship to rare doll collecting. So if you know me maybe this tracks w my general confusion about my very existence & my hyper awareness of niche literalisms.
My own 1 complaint about Barbie: I hate myself for feeling bad for Kens🤢

I think for men, there’s an emotional vulnerability, a mutual respect, and an unconditional love that they’re not socialized to give nor take.

Coupled with the literalisms of male-oriented porn (BIG DICK, BIG CUM, BIG BOOBY—instead of tenderness), there isn’t room to explore what sapphic art does.

Listen, some people roll their eyes at me when I talk about Tay rizzin’ the ‘tism, all I have to say is Wood is *exactly* what it says on the tin.

Literalisms abound in a way that… wow.

I feel like I learned this wayyy too late if I'm being honest but that's because I've hated non-literalisms for most of my life.

What my late father-in-law called, "an attack of the literalisms." He was a past master and passed it on to my wife. In our house one dare not say, "I'm going to put the dishwasher on," or, "Have you laid the table."

I love literalisms
In Spanish slang, speaking with total confidence about a subject you know nothing about can be referred to as cuñadismo. It means “brother-in-law-ism”
