Gotta get a shittier metal. Something that air ruins. Lithium or cesium or something

Relax. It’s all going to be fine. Unless you need lumber, or valves, or electronics, or lithium batteries, or phones, or clothing, or children’s toys, or metal, or cars, or fabric.

speaking of seizing the means of production, isn't the US government taking over several different companies including Intel and various rare earth metal companies? Plus lithium companies? That's not the Democrats doing that

Another one: in astronomy, a ‘metal’ is anything other than hydrogen & helium. Oxygen? A metal. Carbon? Metal. Nitrogen? Metal. Etc.

This is bc everything other than hydrogen & helium has to be produced by stellar processes! Hydrogen, helium (& a tiny bit of lithium) is produced in the Big Bang. 🔭🧪
ok i have another quote tweet prompt. what's something, big or small, related to your job or hobby, that most people don't know that you would like to have them know? it can be a concept, a piece of history, some vocabulary, or something else.

And lithium is still great. Recycling metal beats burning hydrocarbons on everything but the shortest timelines.

The low-carbon transition needs batteries. And those need lithium.

Fortunately, the metal is abundant, and science is getting better at finding, extracting and processing it

Contrary to previous assumptions, a new Science study finds that the needle-like lithium (Li) dendrites that grow in Li-metal batteries are surprisingly strong and brittle, quite unlike soft bulk Li.

The results could help inform safer and more reliable Li-metal batteries. https://scim.ag/4spkOlm
Strong and brittle lithium dendrites
The growth and penetration of lithium dendrites through electrolytes and separators remain key challenges to realizing high–energy density lithium-metal batteries. Using mechanically strong electrolyt...
