I tolerate windows because I *have* to.

Steam Proton's great but it's still not 100%. There's plenty of software I use that doesn't work correctly or have a good enough linux analog. There are *still* no linux drivers for my AverMedia LiveGamer 2.

That's kind of the issue for me, I have an AVerMedia LiveGamer 4K GC573, which is an internal capture card. It doesn't seem like AVerMedia supports outside of Windows & OS X when asked.

I've heard similar with the Stream Deck, but it sounds like the plugins I found haven't been updated in years.

Interesting tech find for some streamers potentially: there might be a HUGE unreported issue with the AVerMedia LiveGamer HD 2 capture card + Windows 11 24H2, if you have this card and your games are randomly hitching, remove it completely from your PC and see if that fixes it!

I gave nobara linux an honest try, and I was REALLY feeling it, up until I had a Hardware Situation. my avermedia livegamer hd 2 wouldn't stop resetting unless it was actively being used.

I tried to disable usb auto off but I couldn't figure it out.
now I'm back on windows.

I feel so defeated lol.

I think that's one of the reasons I went with Avermedia cards in the first place since it seemed to handle different resolutions better, but the visual noise that the LiveGamer 4k had kind of killed that benefit.

I have an AVerMedia LiveGamer 4K card, and it's worked better for me on a software end. I capture from older systems, and it handles systems at 240p and 480i better without issues. Elgato gave me nothing but issues when I used them.

I can speak to the avermedia side - I've got the LiveGamer 4k 2.1 (GC575) and it's been beyond good to me. It helped me solve the my issues with streaming from my Steamdeck (my dock only supports HDMI 1.4) and hasn't had issues with the Switch or the Deck since then.

Speaking as someone who sees something Elgato every direction on his desk, I don't like their capture cards. It's been a few years, but I had numerous issues with the HD60 Pro. Decided to try AVerMedia, and it has been great. The LiveGamer 4K takes every resolution I throw at it: 1080p240 to 4K60
