why use lldap instead of the normal jellyfin auth?
oh i guess i wasnt clear enough with that last part
jellyfin doesn't use authelia. jellyfin uses lldap, and authelia separately uses llldap. lldap docs explains both
lldap acts as a common user source (and happens to be easier to manage than editing a yaml file and restarting authelia every time)

my users can do a password reset through authelia and since both are setup with lldap as the user source, it applies to jellyfin even if jellyfin isn't behind authelia

i use github.com/lldap/lldap + authelia (i only expose lldap to myself via tailscale and i make my users reset their password through authelia)
vouch for lldap only; it's kinda annoying to update the authelia config and restart it and log in again cause it lost my session every time i add a service

interesting. ive had to deal with oauth proxy in the past and it does suck. caddy or nginx auth is much better if you can use those. otherwise uhh good luck i use lldap+authelia to avoid all of the complexity so i have no idea how kanidm works

(my personal stack is a "reverse proxy" on a vps for non-me people, connected to my homeserver through tailscale, and then on the homeserver, authelia+lldap, since jellyfin does ldap auth but not sso)

It's pretty impressive how good the options are! Especially if you're willing/able to run Node instead of just LAMP. And if you do the frame/header thing, you can swap in/out a whole lot of different options and keep it lighter than beasts like WP/BP. FTR, I plan on using LLDAP for unified login.
