Side by side my two conversions based on the Kroot Lonespear mount, fantastic kit and whilst the only variance is the head and front right arm it gives a great look. Will be including a 2nd in my Ghoul force.

One last Kroot Lonespear to complete 2024 painting.

This was sent to me a fair number of months ago by GW - finally had the right colour scheme.

Most of my Kroot were featured in yesterday's WarCom article but I got the Lonespear finished a few days back for the weekend. Thank you to Warhammer for sending me these kits in advance

Not planning a Tau army, but I really wanted to paint this axolotl rider. 🦎
An assembled but unpainted Kroot Lonespear model - it’s a Kroot mercenary from Warhammer 40K riding a salamander.

Slow progress is still progress!

Still working on this lone-spear kroot. First time trying my hand at a lava effect, so this takes a long time. But for now, it's looking ok 😊

Played a rockin 3000pt game of 40k today walloping some marines, and wrapped up these guys this weekend pushing my total painted above 7k, which is pretty stupid.

Pretty good though

3000 pts of crisis battlesuits, fire warriors, pathfinders, triptide, devilfish, sky rays? Broadsides, and two very stupid airplanes Kroot lonespear and five awful old vespid stingwings 7065 points of painted tau. Very dumb

It’s hard to believe May is only a few days away. Curious what might arrive in May
I have a Kroot Lonespear coming but that’s all I know of off my list.

I don’t have much to show off this week for #wipwednesday, I’ve have to take a detour from painting to build up the next set of Tau models for armies on parade. They’re almost all built now, just need to finish the lonespear and the combat patrol #warhammer40k

Recently finished minis…

The suit is a Coldstar Commander. The lizard and rider are a Kroot Lonespear.

An orange, gray, blue and white mech. There are winglets on its shoulders and arms. It’s floating above a streetlight. The lamppost is very rusty. There’s also a rusty fence post and some broken concrete slab nearby. There are small tufts of pink and blue grass with purple and pink flowers nearby. Same image as the prior picture, but this time from the side. An orange bird/dinosaur looking alien with blue/black quills for hair. It rides a giant lizard, with a dark green back, tan middle, and pink legs. The alien wields a long spear and has two more spears attached to its saddle. Another view of the alien riding the lizard. This angle shows that the lizard is picking its way across some mossy rubble. There are pink flowers and pink/purple tufts of grass.

The LoneSpear is done, I’m so happy with everything from the base to the model itself and I almost want to make another to build the other variant.

A kroot lonespear that I painted this year. I really enjoyed painting this one. I particularly love that it is using an atlatl to propel that warhead tipped spear.

Still on my HALO kick!! I made a lil diorama for a trio of jackals!

Ultimately bc of the base i can play them as a root lonespear on the table, but the appeal has definitely been in just making something fun to paint
Unfortunately the print supports attached a LOT to the faces, which caused issues
Photograph depicting a trio of jackals snipers from HALO, specifically designed based on their appearance in the HALO 2 remake. They are arranged on a slate deposit that sticks up out of the ground, with one perched atop the deposit, one hopping down from it, and a third directing their comrades to look at a distant target elsewhere. The two jackals on the deposit are wielding beam rifles, while the other one has a carbine. The ground and floor have been painted blur with vibrant pink grasses, to match my warhammer 40k tau minis.
