This would be an absolutely devastating loss for longitudinal research.
@nickvalentino.bsky.social, who leads the ANES says that without new funds by February, the @electionstudies.bsky.social will shutter. “Someday, if society comes to its senses again, we can start to collect data about ourselves and what is happening in our democracy."
Out today in @nature.com the US social sciences face existential crisis after cuts to the NSF. This includes the 'big three' researcher-run surveys, ongoing for decades as data for public good: @electionstudies.bsky.social, @umpsid.bsky.social, and the General Social Survey.

Indian Roller.

A brightly colored bird with various shades of blue on the wings, tails, and belly that are often more prominent in flight. Note the longitudinal white streaks on the throat and breast. Indochinese Roller has a purple-blue breast, a darker olive back.

Lowdown:
NIH-funded RECOVER study followed 1,019 participants who met criteria for likely Long Covid 12 months after infection.

It's valuable longitudinal data.

But there are important questions about symptom measurement, disease subtypes and definitions of recovery. 🤔 /2

British Household Panel was transformed into the UK Household Longitudinal Study (UKHLS), with a replenished panel. The UKHLS runs from 2009-now. The structure is broadly similar and can be combined depending on the question.
