Fortress of Louisbourg: Landside view of Frederic Gate, on the north shore facing the Royal Battery. Pillory post with iron collar to publically humiliate minor crimes. Chilly day required shopping for extra warmth. (Fortress of Louisbourg, Nova Scotia) 20261006

Fortress of Louisbourg: The King's Bastion Barracks has more luxurious Governor's Apartment, near the livestock pen for secure supply of meat. The soldiers slept nearby, married men living in village with family. Fortress built to withstand navy sieges, fell to landside attack. (Nova Scotia)

"October 1748, war ended with agreement to return all conquered territory to its pre-war owners: Louisbourg went back to France, Britain received Madras in exchange. New Englanders had paid for the expedition, to see it traded away for a (faraway) fort" travelsofsamwise.substack.com/p/the-americ...

We visited the Louisbourg Lighthouse. It was the very first Lighthouse in Canada.

The Canadian historic site of Louisbourg in Cape Breton, NS is kind of fake, when the government declared it a historic site it only had two buildings left. The original layout, fortifications and buildings within the fort were never rebuilt.

"I was walking in a nature walk and the wildlife scared me" is not something I am very sympathetic toward. This land belongs to the wildlife, not humans, IMO.

I’m sorry but some dogs are more aggressive and dangerous than coyotes.

The problem is people have lost their connection and respect for Mother Nature.

Imagine the haunting elegance of Swan Lake, but instead of a far-off European kingdom, the tragedy unfolds against the rugged, misty shores of the Fortress of Louisbourg, Nova Scotia. Don't miss Ballet Jörgen’s Swan Lake on February 6: www.masseytheatre.com/event/ballet...

The rain mostly held off today in eastern Cape Breton, so it was great to take advantage with a hike on the always stunning Louisbourg Lighthouse Coastal trail.

I arrived in Louisbourg on Friday afternoon, planning to visit the National Historic Site (on the horizon in pic) Saturday. Nope: closed because no power. B&B had generator.
Drove home yesterday- the highway was clear. The worst damage is on the SE side of the island. Much damage & sadness

I went to Cape Breton to find out if it still existed.

Then it got washed away!

(I’m in Louisbourg and the fortress was closed today because there was no power. The B&B is comfy especially because it has a generator. My US friend traveled all this way and won’t get to see the fortress)

My friend lives there, and works at the Louisbourg fortress.
