Patrick Haid (Key Out), Saskia Clapton (The Great Emu War Casualties) and Nick Kennedy (Big Heavy Stuff, Imperial Broads and Knieval to name but a few), are Marlophone, and they have been drip-feeding us the most tastiest of morsels in the lead up to their debut album, the Wayne Connolly-produced album ’Remembered Adventures in Widescale’. It's out on 14 August the wonderful Love As Fiction Records (AU) and Shore Dive Records (UK). Out today is 'Nintendo Era Hero', another fuzzy feedback-driven thunder-laden blast with Haid's dreamy vocals in the distance, surfing on the waves of sound.

The Electorate are finally back with a follow-up to their magnificent 2020 album 'You Don't Have Time To Stay Lost' (see my review here). 'By Design', out tomorrow, puts on full display what has been missed during the intervening five years since their last album. Masterful songwriting with intelligent lyrics and a pop sensibility combine to deliver a tour de force.

It's hard coming up with enough new superlatives to accurately describe an Infinity Broke album. Inevitably epithets and phrases such as contained chaos come to mind, along with freight trains careering out of control, sonic explosions, disturbances in the cosmos, mind shattering shards of metal. It's enough to suggest that you should ensure any sound system delivering this music is robust and adequately insured.

Supergoup Marlophone follow up their debut single 'I'm On You Side' (proudly premiered by us here) with a thunderous blast in the beautifully romantic 'If We End Up On The Run'. Consisting of Patrick Haid (Key Out), Saskia Clapton (The Great Emu War Casualties) and Nick Kennedy (Big Heavy Stuff, Imperial Broads and Knieval to name but a few), Marlophone have a dreamy, ethereal delivery that, in this single, is backed up with a buzzsaw shoegaze wattage. It's the first song the band wrote together and they say of it:

Globally, it's been a very traumatic three years since we last visited the excoriating, eviscerating sounds of Infinity Broke and we are inordinately proud to bring you an early listen to their new double singles 'Abject Object'/'I'm In My Prime', out on 14 February 2025 through the esteemed Love As Fiction Records label. Many lucky fans have already received a special vinyl edition through the post in a very generous move by the label and the band, but today everyone gets access through our exclusive.
